i feel like ever since radio died i only discovered artists through game soundtracks, and that was through the 2010's synthwave boom. i feel like i only ever hear about modern music when i walk in on my mum watching tv and Australian show previews are still playing pop homogenate that hasn't innovated since the bush era. only ever understood The National or Kendrick Lamar or Mitski as being popular because they're talked about, i don't think i've ever heard any songs from them.
this breakcore stuff seems interesting but i have nfi how i'm supposed to choose artists to follow. I guess as I'm writing this i've figured out i tapped out of music since spotify got big. i just wanna buy some mp3s for gods sake. idk it's laborious enough trying to find the right videogames and that's something i keep up with. nfi how to get into a media i've lost touch with since 2016.
For all i know, half the synthwave guys i followed might have gone fash since i last kept tabs, from what i gather Synthwave seems to have developed Black Metal levels of nazi co-option.
I'm tired. feels weird to say about a whole medium but i think i might tap out of music.
