as soon as they did this my first thought was "I am going to betray these motherfuckers so hard" because they picked me up because, WITHOUT KNOWING, I commandeered a spacer ship that had contraband on it
did the quest to rescue Barret after joining the fleet, and props to Bethesda, it let me do that entire quest without firing a shot because the quest acknowledged i was one of them, as well as voiced lines acknowledging me as such. Because I took the non-violent option with the fleet captain in the starter mission as well, I'm eager to run into both of them down the crimson fleet questline.
They actually do that for a LOT of quests and I think in some cases they'll even outright replace crimson fleet npcs with spacer ones instead of they require combat
