If you keep staring at the Sun you’ll damage your lenses, you know.

Hey, uh, you look kinda down. You doing alright?

Well, it’s silly, but… it feels like everything revolves around Earth.

I mean, it doesn’t. Earth revolves around the Sun, and the solar system orbits the centre of the Milky Way. Earth’s not special.

I know that. But I can’t help feeling like it does, especially when we’re all the way out here. It’s so much closer to the Sun, so much warmer, so much more cosmically important. I can’t help but stare. And then my lenses get damaged from the sunlight, and it hurts, but I keep doing it.

Damn, I’m sorry. I didn’t realise you felt like that.

I don’t know how I feel, really. Maybe I should look away. Find happiness here in my own life instead of wishing I had a different one. I know I’ll never get to go to Earth so I should stop fantasising. It’s probably another shithole, anyway.

After months of jotting down notes in my phone while on the train and thousands of words worth of dot points (7000? yikes), I have finally written the full outline of a cohesive story.

It was pretty difficult because I started with a gimmick: 'A game where you can't level up' and had to create a plot, theme and message around that. Usually it's the other way around, so I was working backwards.

Tune in next year when I manage to do something with it.
