It's always super weird seeing people say that kind of stuff about stuff I personally experienced. Like, totally wrong narratives about what people thought and when, or wild speculation as if actual facts are just missing.
it was extremely funny to see someone wondering this while surrounded by people of the time who were sharing their thoughts on it. i suppose we all roll crit 1 perception checks sometimes
I am people of the time who played Sonic Adventure (on the Dreamcast babeyyy 😎👉👉) and holy shit I had thoughts. I continue to have thoughts. Despite the fact that games have come so far since then I'm still stuck in my first impression of it being Revolutionary (which it was!!! And it still continues to kick modern game ass tbh, they ain't making multi-narrative open world woven stories....tho there was actually one later made for the GameCube that was the closest I'd found to copying the structure, and it was...a Winnie the Pooh game, wildly enough. And it also kinda slapped?)
