the Rinoa and Ultimecia stuff is old hat. we've heard it all before. Why does nobody talk about the parallels between Squall and Ultimecia. She calls upon Squall's fursona as her GF and her entire motivation for time compression centers around preventing her own death which we know Squall can't accept either ("I won't be spoken of in the past tense" in disc 1). The themes of Squall around memory and repeating the past and acceptance are all echoed in some way in Ultimecia. Reflect on your childhood. your words. your emotions. I'm not saying Squall is Ultimecia but I think people are looking in one particular direction only just bc she and Rinoa are sorceresses (but also Squall being Ultimecia would kind of be awesome too)

just that Seifer's whole thing of desperately wanting to be a sorceress's knight becomes very interesting if the sorceress in question is actually Squall, given their whole rivalry
holy shit so I just started thinking about this again randomly. squall would have to inherit rinoa's powers which would be tragic as hell. but then the scene where ultimecia dies and passes on her power to edea would be even more potent! Three versions of Squall would be in it, Past, Present, and Future.
