ask me off anon for my discord

my partner's dad drove us four hours to a park in vermont to see the totality of the eclipse... at first the change in light was gradual. then it started to get cold, very cold. we saw the shadow fall on the far side of the lake, where there were mountains, before it reached us. i had glasses and watched as the last shard of the sun disappeared, and as it did i could see the world get darker and darker in my peripheral - and then it was gone, and i looked straight into what looked like god's blazing eye. i didn't know eclipses actually looked like that. i thought the halo around the moon would be barely visible, if at all, and all the photos were enhanced, but i saw it waving with my own eyes. it was impossible. it was beautiful. then it was light again all at once, and although the sun was still occluded, the ritual was over.
