I've been thinking about this for a while after a friend of mine, who presents quite "preppy", was sharing with a group of his friends, a photo of himself in which he felt very euphoric about how well he passes. He has gone through hell to transition, and was understandably overjoyed at his appearance.

His friends say: "you look like you would hate crime me."

The fact he's a very masculine arab man is not lost on me. It's quite usual in cis-society that white-masculinity is viewed as less-threatening than non-white-masculinity ... and here we go again, in queer groups, where gender-essentialism should really not be so concretely maintained, but still is, and ends up maintaining the racism linked into it.

supposed queer folks that let the cops in their heads win so handily that they turn into straights who compulsively enforce the patriarchy's gender essentialist bullshit within queer spaces will never not be sad and pathetic to me, nor will the fact that they're actually allowed to do it

Just off the top of my head, it's been over 20 years since the first time I heard about a trans man dying because he was denied life-saving reproductive healthcare.

20 years, and almost nothing's changed. I don't have the words to express how I feel about that.
