So here's something you might not have noticed (but your brain did):
The size of a display can have a drastic effect upon the way your eyes perceive movement. This is why 60hz on an iPhone looks so much smoother than 60hz on your monitor. I'm oversimplifying a bit, but the amount of real-world space an object moves between one refresh and the next is the issue here - your eyes are better able to perceive the tiny gaps of time between frames at scale.
In this way, 30fps on a 32 inch display can feel comparable to 27fps on a 24 inch display. This gulf in perception starts to shrink as framerate increases, becoming fairly marginal once you're into the triple digits.
Long story short: Bigger screens demand bigger GPUs for best results regardless of resolution.
