Something I've noticed about conservatives:
They don't seem to understand probability or betting odds.
If you tell them that the covid vaccine is ineffective in 2% of cases they immediately jump to "Well, what's the point if you can still catch it?"
Downright weird how reliable this is.
I don't think this is caused by innumeracy, it's more that they're not actually looking to understand or change their position. They know what conclusion they want to get to and will take anything that lets them get there.
You basically have to change the conclusion they -want- to get to, and that usually means convincing them that their social circles and trusted authorities agree with you on this one.
