god so one of my housemates is originally from a fairly small farming town (had lived their entire life in small farming communities in fact), and only moved into the greater Denver metro area about 2.5 years ago. so very frequently, I forget that they don't know this area like I do and it leads to conversations like this--

Housemate: hey it really hurt my feelings when you joked about not being able to bring me a hot drink today. I know it wasn't your intent, but I've been having a rough time and took it really personally

me: aw man I'm really sorry. I would have if I could have, I promise

HM: but why couldn't you? you were already out running errands; I don't understand why you'd decide that a few extra minutes was too much trouble

me, suddenly realizing: oh. oh no, it would not have been a few extra minutes. it would have added about 90 minutes total to my trip.

HM: what do you mean? I thought you were [close to the area they work]

me: noooo. I was [about 45 minutes away from that area, which is also triangulated in relation to our home]

HM:

HM: ohhhhhh. that makes WAY more sense. my bad

so one day a few weeks ago, my husband and his other partner (my metamour) and I were in the car together, and at one point we're headed down Colfax

and my metamour suddenly blurts out, "Fuck APD."

You can replace the word "California" in any song with "Pennsylvania" to make it about Pennsylvania. Hotel Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Dreaming. Pennsylvania Gurls. Pennsylvanication. Pennsylvania Love.

I can't make it to Pride this year; I just thought this was... [clears throat.] interesting?? especially considering that they've been allowing this sort of thing for at least the past 10 years now, and it only gets worse each year!!

my friends and I are going to try to help organize a protest around this kind of thing next summer. tired of being told that The Center on Colfax has MY best interests in mind when they keep pulling shit like this tbh
