GETTING BETTER!! is a youtube playlist that I started compiling at the end of 2022 (in the months following a mental health crisis and several weeks of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy [DBT]) as both a project to hopefully get my mind off of things that caused me anxiety, and something that I could throw on for motivational background noise during necessary self-care activities. it wound up becoming tremendously personal and meaningful, and I started to find a lot of joy in curating a list of songs I related to on multiple emotional levels-- not just the positive, but the negative-- in a way that feels healthy and cathartic while releasing my own pent-up emotion during high-anxiety situations.

I also take a lot of pleasure in critical musical & lyrical analysis, so I decided to start this blog series as a way of journaling out what each song means to me, and really challenging myself to confront the problems I struggle with the most as I relate to each song. maybe you'll enjoy reading it, or even relate to it on some level!

a note on CWs:
because these posts all have to do with mental health/illness and will involve many potentially triggering themes, I will do my best to put appropriate content warnings on each one. please do not hesitate to request additional CW tags (on the relevant post) if you feel there's something I missed!
