it's very exciting that I get to start taking the next steps of my name change (i.e. updating my name in all the important national/federal infrastructure), but I gotta say: not too hype about the next steps being SSA and DMV, two of the most undersupported institutions in the entire nation

it's been just over 2 weeks (11 business days) since I filed my petition for a legal name change. how long does this stuff usually take to go through; I'm losing my goddamn mind
(I have already accepted that I will likely not get my final decree before my driver's license expires next week, so I'll just deal with that. but man,)
