the past two months i've been listening to Blame it on Me, a barenaked ladies b-side off their 1992 album Gordon. Gordon is probably most known for "oh that's where half the tracks from the live album Rock Spectacle are from", and I think you'd be forgiven for not knowing the eighth most popular song on a pre-stunt album.
Blame it on Me, however, is kind of BNL at their best — earnestly self-deprecating about a flawed relationship, meandering references to pop culture (check out the anachronistic Among Us reference!), a melody with more going on musically than you'd need for a traditional pop song, Steven Page on the chorus and Ed Robertson on the verse.
