there still isn't a Game To Play Ravnica As A Setting In. the number of times i hear "yeah i'm a little ashamed but I used to run a 5e game in Ravnica. I mean by the end we weren't really playing 5e, and even at the beginning it's not like the rules supported any of the stuff we were doing" is astonishing and deeply relatable—this also describes me!

one day there will be a game for running ravnica stories in. i speak not of myself, but of the one who comes after me, who will share this game with you and your stories of that city at the heart of cities

I'm not actually so sure we'll ever get a game that supports it, at least that uses Ravnica Ravnica and not Ravnica with the serials filed off.

I think to do the setting justice, you really need a system that is NOT DnD 5e, but because WoTC owns both DnD and Ravnica. I can't imagine they'd be eager to make a competitor to their existing flagship TTRPG product.

I pondered doing a cypher system megaconversion for it once, linking up Ptolus and Numenera and more, and that came a little closer, sometimes a lot closer, but while parts of it felt right other parts just did not feel that it was clicking, and still other parts didn't feel worth the effort required to bring them in line.

maybe Blades in the Dark hack, your gang is a group of guildless organizing to control turf in the aftermath of the Phyrexian Invasion, playbooks are based on guild archetypes, mission structures are pretty much exactly the same as Blades in the Dark. use the guilds for factions, make custom factions as you like based on MtG lore or whatever else.

that would work pretty well i think
