I'm always sad to see programmer-oriented open-source projects1 with an issue full of comments like "please fix ASAP!" these projects exist as volunteer labor to solve a communal problem. you could volunteer some labor (write a bug report, document things, write a patch to fix the issue) or not, but scolding other volunteers for not fixing it faster doesn't help anyone.

of course, in typical OSS fashion, there actually is a year-old PR that fixes2 the issue (it has never been reviewed by the maintainers). what's more, in typical Ryan fashion, I'm discovering this PR exists only after writing my own patch. here's hoping I have better luck in the review queue at least?


  1. excluding corporate projects, because those work on totally different models

  2. it has a pretty major missing piece, at least for my use case, but it's a great start
