but man I wish they translated "Nen", "Ren", "Ten", "Zetsu", and "Hatsu" (as well as the various other Nen-related words) in Hunter x Hunter. I'm halfway through Season 3 and I still barely remember what any of them mean, because they're essentially arbitrary symbols to me.

In the original context the audience has an easy cue as to their meaning, because they're just words in Japanese! Nothing seems to be improved by just borrowing the original Japanese words used - you could pick a consistent mapping of English words that capture a similar vibe, and stick to those. I don't speak any Japanese, so I don't have any suggestions as to how they should be translated, but I do feel that they could be

(and yes I'm watching HxH because of Media Club Plus lol)

Idk, I had an alright time with it because it was Japanese and I had no context for it so it works as well as a specific new phrase in a fantasy context. And I'd personally prefer like Ten and Zetsu to saying Point or Tongue, which appears to be the direct translation.

I feel like it's a fair complaint to have, I just don't think there can ever be a true best answer when it comes to translation.
