fucking insane that the thing keeping everything synced up in most electronic devices is a funny little rock that wiggles when u zap it. computers are such bullshit dude
genuinely just looked up why crystal oscillators are called that and why they look like that and yeah turns out there's a fuckin. little wiggly rock in there. what the fuck man
we are allowing puny rocks to control us when we should in reality assert dominance over them and eat them
we trapped lightning in a rock and made it think and it's all been downhill from there
It seems like it should be harder to keep time than that. No wonder the traditional clock makers went fucking insane when the market was suddenly full of cheap quartz watches.
