thinking about how reliance on automotive parts interchange catalogues can really bite you in the ass sometimes.
like, how almost all aftermarket manufacturers of axles for the SAAB classic 900's seemingly only build them to the spec used on the 8 valve cars. they might be 'compatible' with a 16 valve car, but due to the dual overhead cam head, the engine is tilted over a few more degrees to clear the hood, pushing the transmission further over toward the passenger side than on an 8 valve car.
so, subsequently, thanks to Geometry, you will have an axle explosion as soon as the suspension compresses under power.
(never mind the fact that the 8v axles are smaller in diameter, and the inner tripod bearings are ~1mm smaller in diameter too, so beside the one being prone to falling out from being too short, they'll vibrate like crazy, hammer up the axle driver cups on the transmission in the process, then eventually explode anyway.)
