after a dozen hours or so of work, I'm a dealer parts delivery, a dozen hours of work more, and a stretch of non-rainy weather away from maybe being able to drive this stupid car under its own power.
I struggled with getting the 'new' companion flanges out of the bearing houses they came with, but honestly it was a good learning experience so I don't end up damaging the ones currently on the transmission, and I knew which side was which. that latter point came in handy since I could swap the sides of the transmission the drivers were on, negating all the wear they had gotten over however many miles they'd done going forward 99.99% of the time.
