I ought to share that piece here.

The Camera / The Photo
the No.2 is a 120-format folding pocket camera, with a simple meniscus lens, even simpler shutter, and an unadorned stamped-steel back (meant to make extras backs cheap to purchase, to allow owners to pre-load film and quickly swap backs in the field). from the period ad-copy I've read, Kodak originally marketed this camera toward police and private detectives, but given the purple felting inside the case, and its 1918 build year, this one was likely purchased by the U.S. Army for use during The Great War.
after fixing the camera by lubing the shutter and replacing the disintegrating bellows, I feel an unparalleled satisfaction in shooting film with it, almost like the No.2 is glad to be capturing the world again—from a much less grisly angle—and with every new roll of film, it rewards me with eight frames of beauty.
