something i love about fallout is there's an abandoned total conversion mod for pretty much every major american city
like. The Pitt dlc got it so FUCKING WRONG, Pittsburgh is about houses built on extreme hills, inexplicable sheer cliffs, and an ass-ton of rain
- neo-pinkertons. They ritually worship that Andrew-Ryan-lookin-ass statue of Westinghouse near flagstaff park
- weird Carnegie-inspired "philanthropist" branch of the BoS operating out of the Cathedral Of Learning (real building btw, it's the inspiration for the big tower in The Pitt). Much like in real Pittsburgh, it's so tall you can use it to navigate by. The BoS Philanthropy Wing will not stop giving their tech to wealthy industrialists and it's a serious problem, but also they preserve the library and natural history museum
- A faction who has fully misinterpreted the Pittsburgh Pirates and now is cartoon pirate mode. they are anarchist
- The entire Pittsburgh Steelers is ghouls and they're still playing football and have become orthodox trotskyists. Also they became real steelers and have been maintaining the infrastructure downtown
- mutant panthers everywhere but especially in Panther Hollow
- Scarry Meat Vault where Strip District Meats should be
- quest where you resurrect the t-rex in the museum of natural history and it can talk
- as with real pittsburgh, the surrounding counties are full of weird racists
- the currency is on a metal standard and that metal is steel. there is major inflation and it's really bad but it benefits several factions to keep it that way.
- sinkholes, because Pittsburgh
that was made by some anarchist QuΓ©becois artist who finagled an art grant out of the federal and provincial art councils, and appropriately gave the mod full En/Fr bilingualism as any federally-funded project should. (However, some NPCs still only speak French in the English version, and I assume vice versa, which is a nice bit of verisimilitude.)
Also, the perks are freeware emoji clipart, and it's beautiful
It's a real inspiration for my dream project of making a Fallout New Vegas total-conversion mod set in the Fallout universe version of Thunder Bay, Ontario (ask me for details I beg you).
I chose Thunder Bay and not my hometown because Prince Edward Island is boring as fuck and probably would not change much even after absorbing the fallout from the US East Coast and maybe Halifax getting blown to bits. Biggest difference would probably just be that the lobsters get a lot bigger and eat people more often.
