getting a drink and then forgetting you did so halfway through whatever drink-related activity is a leading cause of “why is this half drunk can of room temperature liquid here” among adhd havers. research is ongoing on how to address this; many are saying “make drinks louder”
My genuine solution to this was to only have one cup I use for like a week, I don't let myself get another cup if I currently have one in circulation.
This way, when I'm sitting at my desk and feel thirsty, I look over where my cup usually is, and it's not there, and I go "where the fuck did I put my cup" and then I go on a search and rescue mission and find it sitting on a random surface in the living room.
