Reminder: I'm not a native speaker and also not hip with the latest memes and whatnot, and I'd really appreciate it if you kept this in mind when commenting on my posts. I've gotten a lot of lovely comments and I really appreciate those, but there've been some that were puzzling at best and felt vaguely like harassment at worst.

And generally, before you comment on something, it's good practice to remind yourself that the person on the other side is a stranger with thoughts and feelings and that might not be the appropriate place for aggressive yelling in all caps or doing an in-joke bit with your friends.

I've never commented before and I'm a fairly new follower, but I'm sorry this happened to you!

I'm also not a native English speaker and, even if I'm kinda knowledgeable in memes (lmao), sometimes jokes do get lost in translation, but of course, mean people are always mean people. I hope this doesn't discourage you from posting!

I think most cases of unpleasant comments I've experienced weren't people with bad intentions, but they just didn't stop to think about how what they said would come across. And luckily, there's always the block button for the really bad cases.

I tend to be pretty sensitive to things like this, but I'm trying to get better with that, so I'm not going to abandon this account or something like that.
