okay, listen, it sucks that hyperdiffusion as a theory has been so overrun by people who are so shitty (ie. racist pseudoarchaeologist conspiracy theorists). because the notion of realizing that there was a lost worldspanning civilization in the future would be fascinating.
i mean, look at fallout. i'd bet money that hancock couldn't point to europe on a map. i'd also bet money that people in post-apocalypse europe -- and even post apocalypse america -- are nearing the point where they can cross the atlantic ocean and reestablish contact, since fallout is set in a world that was once culturally diffused. that's fucking fascinating. i would love to see how that played out. the potential for worldbuiliding and storytelling is exquisite.
