as a reminder, you can go into your youtube watch history and delete shit, and it will actually unpollute your recs. i have done this countless times, it actually works. if you click on a single forgotten weapons or something you will have chud shit on your homepage and sidebar for weeks; delete the history entry, it all disappears instantly. it's worth the effort.

Prune carefully however, I inadvisedly nuked my whole history once and it was absolute hell for a while. That's how I learned about the existence of Mr Beast

this is absolutely true, if you delete your watch history youtube will default to assuming you're a floridian who's going to write in trump at the next election. if you don't believe me try it, it does exactly what i said

If you turn off your watch history entirely it doesn't show you any recommendations any more. I missed it a little bit initially, because I did sometimes see a cool one-off video from YouTube algorithm recs, but it never showed me a channel I was interested in subscribing to.

Now that I'm used to the passive aggressive message on the blank home screen telling me my watch history is off, I take pleasure in not giving YouTube an avenue to recommend right-wing grifters to me. I've had better success finding new channels just posting and asking what cool shit people watch. Highly recommend :)
