I was showing my friend some cool stuff I’d set up in my room and she described it as an “epic NEET setup” which scared the living daylights out of me and lit a fire under my ass to start applying to more local jobs, any jobs. I guess I am a NEET right now but it’s very weird to think of myself that way! Doesn’t feel right!

Thank you for saying that, you are right! Yeah I try to keep a sense of humor about it. I still have savings and it’s not an emergency or anything, just feels very strange after working for so many years. I’ve always been a bit self-conscious about not having any particular talents so having a “real” job I was good at was kind of a way to prove to myself I am competent at something. I did just apply for a library assistant job which just opened near me, I think I would really like that kind of work even though it’s a big step down in terms of pay
