store-bought is fine

First-time Covid update, it has not been so bad thus far! Had quite a fever and a miserable headache last night but it started to settle down early in the morning, so hopefully the fever did its work. I didn’t sleep well, but I actually feel quite good this morning and the headache is all gone. No respiratory symptoms which is great and the main thing I was concerned about, and even my scratchy throat has gone away. My body is great at working up a fever so hopefully it cooked the hell out of the Covid.

Doctor gave me the paxlovid scrip since I’m considered at risk, but she doesn’t recommend I take it unless I get a lot worse on day 3-5, which doesn’t seem likely at this point. She said it reduces the durability of your immunity if you use it while recovering which is pretty interesting, I didn’t know that! Also said like 25 of her patients have had this strain and almost all of them are bouncing back quickly without needing the paxlovid, which is reassuring. I’m gonna keep taking it easy but I’m very optimistic so far. I have a healthy lifestyle so hopefully banking those good practices takes the edge off this bug!

I'm glad your symptoms aren't so bad. Rest more than you think you need and keep taking it easy after your symptoms are gone! Long Covid can develop even with mild infections and rest seems to be one of the things that can help prevent it.

Hope you get better soon ❤️

I finally fell afoul of big Rona earlier this year. I'm at risk too, but I recovered fairly routinely, though it was about a week after infection when it hit its peak.

Unfortunately I confirmed it was covid (it was pretty mild and I half recovered, before it kicked in fully) one day too late for paxlovid.

Watch out for secondary infections, the following Sinus infection lasted about twice as long for me.

That’s good to be aware of, secondary infections are a big concern for me too! I will keep resting and won’t push my luck even if symptoms seem like they are abating. Hopefully I don’t have one of those rollercoaster recovery experiences because that would make me straight up angry lol
