Wall Street Journal literary critic wrote a Joseph Conrad piece and didn’t even mention The Secret Agent which would have dovetailed perfectly with the article’s political position as it’s very funny, extremely effective and screamingly anticommunist/anti-anarchist. Also calculatedly referred to his dad as a generic “revolutionary” instead of a loony Polish ultranationalist. Fake fan. I know you only read Heart of Darkness and the Wikipedia page

It is endlessly funny to me that Ted Kaczynski kinned the Professor and would tell everyone in earshot that he was just like him. The best part is that he actually was very much like the Professor, just not in the way that he thought. Narcissistic yet insecure, just smart enough to be a danger to himself and others but not half as smart as he thinks he is, lashing out from a distance and for abstract reasons against people who have done him no harm because he’s too weak and cowardly to confront his real foes, borderline masturbating to a bomb to cope with his feelings of rejection, castration and inadequacy
