Sisters should be called Sathers. Mother, Brother, Father, Sather. It makes more sense

This is a universal [among languages with Proto-Indo-European as their ultimate origins] quirk across the board. "Sister" in PIE was spelled the most different and every language that derived from PIE followed that. Here's a reddit link that breaks it down a little.
Anyway, but you're right. If it'd been sort of... matched with the rest, maybe in English it'd be "sother" or something. As it is, "sister" and "son" are the family words that Do Not Match in PIE derived languages and it's fun! And silly! And doesn't make sense! And drives me a little crazy that we'll probably never know why this is.

I think my favorite part is how in PIE sister is only a little bit different and then it just drifts further and further away from the other words in the group. I wonder whether similar grouped words are less likely to change drastically over time because they kind of enforce one another and people don’t want to “break them up”? I just woke up and I’m struggling to word this properly lmao
