This is one of my favorite Touhou songs, but I don’t see it get talked about very often. It’s the theme of Eternity Larva, a butterfly fairy and the first boss of Touhou 16: Hidden Star in Four Seasons, whom you fight on an unnaturally hot summer’s day. It evokes such a strong sense of place for me and reminds me of childhood summers in a very nostalgic and melancholy way. I can practically feel the sun on my skin when I listen to the first part of the song— it makes me a little bit sad even though I love to listen to it.
