what if we ran cohost ads as a community? here's a rough idea:
- we set up a @cohostads account, maybe have it ran by a few different people
- users can submit ads that they would like to run on the account
- ads get posted and promoted/shared around on the account
- users also include screenshot proof of how many cohost! plus subscriptions they have bought. the more subscriptions, the more promo they receive
- people can follow the account and see ads on cohost occasionally
us creators get our cool user-submitted ads we've been bugging staff about for months, viewers get to see cool content from the community, staff gets money. ideally user ads get added to cohost at some point, but i really do wonder how viable it is to run this as a community.
what do y'all think?
On derpibooru they have a little adspace strip below every image where people can pay to advertise there. It's only stuff relevant to the site (ponies/furry in this case) and the filesize has to be pretty small, bc they can't be any bigger than what you see in the image, but they're always animated. I would honestly love to see something like this on cohost, it would be a neat way to discover new content. Maybe just have the adspace be one at the very top and one at the very bottom of each feed page? So while you're scrolling, it goes between the next/previous page buttons at the bottom. I think it could work! And it would still follow this site's anti algorithm policy bc it would be randomly picked from the advertisers x)
