In the USA, slavery didn't really end in 1865, it continued for nearly 80 more years under the name "debt peonage" and finally ended in 1941 due to Pearl Harbor. And THAT is why the civil rights movement and all the fun stuff with MLKjr doesn't happen until so much later after the freedom of slaves!!!!!!! Because it hadn't truly happened yet!!!!
