It's online here! To use it, first save a draft with the images you need, then paste them into the website and, optionally, add captions and alt text. Click the button to copy out the HTML and paste it into your copost, and you're done! I updated the post above to use it so you can see it in action.

Features include:

  • Fancy grid formatting
  • Customizable number of images per row
  • Easy alt text for screen readers
  • HTML captions for extra readability (and again screen readers)
  • Links to full images
  • Font sizes tested to look at least halfway decent on mobile probably hopefully
  • Optional attribution if you want to shout me out

At some point maybe I'll even try to root around in the Cohost API to automatically upload images by creating drafts, but that sounds like a lot of work so probably not.

Hi everyone! I'm proud to announce the release of a new tool: Cohoard!

Cohoard is a tool that is meant to make it easy to format posts for Cohost. It can automatically stylize a play-script into looking like a Discord post!

For example, something like this:

BUGEGG:mwahahaha! you're too late Eggbug! cohost is is already under my control! EGGBUG:You'll never get away with this, Bugegg! I, the sworn hero of Cohost, will defeat you! BUGEGG:try and stop me!
can be automatically turned into this:

bug egg >:3 Saturday, August 6th, 2022

mwahahaha! you're too late Eggbug! cohost is is already under my control!

egg bug! Saturday, August 6th, 2022

You'll never get away with this, Bugegg! I, the sworn hero of Cohost, will defeat you!

bug egg >:3 Saturday, August 6th, 2022

try and stop me!

The tool exports to raw HTML, which you can then just copy-paste into your Cohost posts. CSS-Choosting made easy!

You have a lot of control over the formatting, including custom avatars, custom names, and markdown support.

The tool can also format posts like a Pesterlog, Twitter timeline, and more. It even allows for custom templates of your own making.

Try out Cohoard!

(also, if you have suggestions or contributions, feel free to check out the repo).

Here's that eggbug conversation in the other templates! Pesterlog:

Show Pesterlog
Hide Pesterlog
bugegg: mwahahaha! you're too late Eggbug! cohost is is already under my control!
eggbug: You'll never get away with this, Bugegg! I, the sworn hero of Cohost, will defeat you!
bugegg: try and stop me!
