I think about this a lot. The exact wording "baked into my soul" showed up a lot especially early on into discovering this about myself, where there was a lot of feeling like that being a pocket monster was a failure of anti-corporatism on my part. And, well, it isn't exactly like I've found a way to convert it into praxis in the years since. But I at least look at it as my own small act of theft — "if you shoved this stuff into my soul, goddamn will you prevent me from taking it with me". I don't know if that's enough for me to be a good person or whatever, but it is what it is.

It's always moral to pirate Nintendo games.

i've got a lot of half baked thoughts on copyright that are more vague values than anything actionable

but like the unshakeable core central thread is that if you're preventing creatures from participating in their own culture, then your institution is an abomination and must be burned to the ground, then salted so that it may never be rebuilt

we've also had this struggle, having Ponies On The Brain/Soul, and one thing that helped us to think about is that creatures like us evolved alongside storytelling and perception and Being, being inexorably entangled with the creatures and songs and stories that share our strange dreamy rainy world with us. we have always been forming our identities based on who is springing into our perceptions around us

and these corporations have weaponized this and perverted it, probably one of the oldest things, to look at a creature and Feel You Are That, into something to make money from. they are playing with ontological fire and trying to keep it leashed but they do not actually hold a leash on the flame, they just have paperwork that says they do. the prairie fire laughs.

it's fine, i'm pretty sure the distaste of the word "people" is by no means universal. i made that as a tag cos it was a personal statement as opposed to a direct response, you good (on that point, anyway)
