Anonymous User asked:

consider this another dm complimenting you on your voice!!!

so this is not really a question, but i always love an excuse to talk about voice training!!!!

(also, i wish more people would ask me questions about voice training; it's a subject i can talk a LOT about)

voice training is obviously great if you want to feminize your voice but it's also just plain fun!!! i like to make an analogy to playing an instrument; it can be challenging at first, but enjoyable in the long run

in fact, thinking of it in that way can help get over the initial demoralization that people sometimes experience (i know that feeling, myself); if you stop worrying about sounding femme specifically and just think of it as a chance to play with your voice and learn what you can do with it then you won't be as harsh on yourself when your voice doesn't sound exactly the way you want

because, like, it probably took me about two years to get to a voice that i both liked and that i could use use for long-form presentations (and i'm still learning new stuff and continuing to polish my voice). you might not have as much difficulty with voice training as me (my voice started off pretty deep), but it's generally a good idea to manage expectations and be in it for the long haul.

that said, i don't devote nearly as much time to voice training these days as i used to. when i started i would train my voice for around 10-30 minutes every day and now i only train for about a minute or two every day or two.

i also wrote up a "meta" guide to voice training which you can find here:

that even includes "before" and "after" recordings of presentations of mine so you can listen to how much voice training feminized my voice

how do i not remember reading this guide? very useful btw. as i think we discussed earlier, i am probably straining my voice due to not enough airflow due to practicing quietly in my room.

process of "learning a new thing" is still overwhelming. i just gotta do it tho :)
