… is that I have great difficulty processing things privately, and I'll explain what that means.
That doesn't necessarily mean that I need to put my inner life on blast all over social media (although I frequently do, as I'm literally doing right now as I write this). However, it does mean that even, say, in the "privacy" of my own home I can't process stuff without very visibly or audibly leaking my inner life into my surroundings. And it's not just emotions; every mental activity of mine is at least an order of magnitude more effective the more I interact with my surroundings to reflect what's happening inside of me, including but not limited to:
- journaling
- music
- art
- clothing
… but most importantly of all:
- the people around me
In other words, one of the most effective ways for me to learn and process new things is to be seen and heard by others around me. That's why I blog so much about new things that I learn and also why I put my inner life all out there on social media.
