the right way they should have done this is for the "following" tab to be the same user experience as the normal timeline except that you only have one post (the latest one) from each person you follow, still in reverse chronological older
I had an idea a while ago that I would love to try something similar. Only difference is that when I reach the end of the list I think I'd make it give me the second item from each person whom I am following, and then the third last post when I've gone past those.
Timeline but round-robin.
