Inspired by of course the first dumb joke I thought of when I heard about the Daily Dracula newsletter phenomenon, I assembled a full annotated play-through of the classic PC Engine game Dracula X (Castlevania): Rondo of Blood.

Daily Dracula X subscribers were sent roughly a stage a day in a game that turned out to be way more massive than I remembered it being. I also tried to offer a lot of observation and context for this game, as I believe the game is as important as it is overlooked.

That is to say, just because rondo is legendary (for being rare and for being the prequel to an even more legendary game, Symphony of the Night), it doesnt mean a lot of folks have actually played it. So I played it thoroughly.

Anyway, I'm still really proud of this a year later. I hope to never again take on an unpaid work load on this level, but I'm really proud of it all the same!

I have been working my way through your playthrough for the past few days, it's really interesting!

I like this both because I don't think enough people do this sort of playthrough (where you already know what's happening but are just kind of showcasing the game), and because this is the general sort of thing I want to write or talk about on Cohost. Although maybe not with this level of time investment, as you mentioned.

(But maybe!)
