All this except also I have figured it out but don't want to cross the street yet because it looks like it'll irreversibly advance the plot and I want to do more stuff on this side of the street first
That doesn't stop the radio companion. "You need to find a way to cross without getting run over. Look for a way to avoid getting hit by those cars!" every ten seconds, like the devs didn't hide stuff over here, or make it look nice, or anything.
I swear I must be an NPC because protagonists approach me to ask directions with abnormal frequency.
