By which I mean: something a creator made that gives them a pass where you'll check out anything they put out simply because their name is attached to it, even if it doesn't seem like it'd be your speed. And maybe it isn't, but you'll give it an honest shot sight unseen.

("Formerly" is okay too, I've got a few that used to be this that I no longer care about)

There are certainly some I'm forgetting, but a couple off the top of my head:

  • Ghost Trick and Shu Takumi
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Hiroyuki Imaishi (and the rest of the Trigger squad)
  • Pyre and Supergiant Games

Editing to add a couple:

  • Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Hitoshi Ashinano
  • Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer, Satoshi Mizukami
  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, From Software, look, it is what it is
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Hideo Kojima, who should maybe be ashamed of his words and deeds
  • (Formerly) Mistborn, Brandon Sanderson (the period of my life where I cared about the Cosmere whatsoever ended around Stormlight 3)

Yoooooo Pyre!!!!!! It really is they're most underrated game, probably because it's the least accessible, but it's so good... TT_TT

Most of these are not like, the first thing I'd experienced from a certain creator but these are what got me hooked anyways:
-Virtue's Last Reward got me hooked and now I have to play everything that Kotaro Uchikoshi touches.
-Bastion was not my favorite but my first Supergiant game and I've religiously played every one since.
-Look Back by Tatsuki Fujimoto hurt my heart so bad that I had to go read Chainsaw Man which in turn made me laugh so hard that I had to go read Fire Punch which, let's face it, is probably my least favorite one but I'll just ignore that one. Anyways, I'm hooked. lol
-D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die is what sold me on SWERY. I know he made the funny anime twin peaks game but D4 is a beautiful glimpse of what he can do with an actual budget and I cry as I play his other games just thinking about D4, but I do play all of his other games. (please play D4. it's unfinished, but please.πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™)
-Mouth Sounds by Neil Cicierega. I uh... Uh.. Ummm. Yes.

Intresting question!

Can't really think of much, maybe the steam world devs with steam world quest since I used to not be into card games much?

Tbh I don't particularly love steam world quest tho. Its fun but way too long and padded out.
