yeah, GW's market share at all costs approach is weird, the only tabletop gaming store near me is a GW, so that basically means there is no tabletop gaming there's only 40k, so that means I don't go there or buy anything even though they could probably tempt me to if there was other stuff there too
I do wonder how long it would have taken GW to establish such utter dominance if their plan of flooding just-off-the-high-street with stores run by one person to become The Only Game in Town wasn't so vigorously pursued.
I don't really think you can really get that kind of market position without controlling what other people can sell
My Antares starter shipped without half the C3 models and then my replacements got lost in the English channel because Brexit means mail is completely busted, so I've decided to replace those dudes with Infinity riflemen and a Relic Knights lady with a jetpack and big gun (and 40mm base, similar to the drone she's proxying). I'm all for this, make wargaming weird and open and creative (and gimme Renault FTs in 28mm scale!)
