i was trying to use a certain emulator to convert my certain rom files to a certain compressed format and it was randomly failing like 60% in, and the file it was working on would vanish
after trying different versions, googling to no avail, i got a suspicion and moved the folders closer to the root of my drive and suddenly it worked without any problem........
i've been burned by this SO many times. VLC refusing to play perfectly fine video files just because they were 6 folder levels deep and had very well tagged filenames, etc.
