last night i shut Windows down, saw an error message along the lines of "random app didn't terminate", i let it be thinking Windows would be smart enough to just kill the process.
i found the PC still on and basically frozen at the lock screen this morning :)

I've had fun times before where i press shutdown on a laptop, then close the lid. Then when i open the lid it wakes up from sleep mode and finishes shutting down lol
I very frequently have to click to kill Outlook at shutdown time on my work computer exactly like that.
However I will say this category of problem is not exclusive to Windows, Steam will do this to my Linux desktop and leave it in a broken state where I can't log out or shut down from the menu anymore.
