more franchises should be free from copyright but there is something particularly draconian about pokemon being under a corporation's lock. like these are fantasy creatures and stories as ubiquitous as those in fairy tales and folklore for the people who grew up in their presence and you're telling us we're not allowed to remix and retell those stories? we can barely even parody or homage to them without some nobodies lighting a flare to try and alert the monolith. people could barely even handle yokai watch existing.
they're fighting palworld on patent grounds, and you know if they win they'll stretch it to any game they deem "competition". all the while trying to look like the good guys by going after the one everybody hates. pokemon company would go after kids doodling pikachu in their homework if they could.
