at the risk of sounding kind of like an asshole (very unlike me, i know) i think that if you're working on a sort of "gray legal" project (emulators, graffiti instructions, DDOS software, idk) you really have to accept that what you are doing is always going to be under the threat of shutdown and to never get too comfortable in your position.

that sucks because i know a lot of people want to make a living on that stuff, which is understandable because it's good honest ethical work, but we don't live under good honest ethical systems of power. it's a shame that yuzu and citra went down, 'we' (generalized 'we') should try and make sure that these sort of projects aren't possible to shut down in the future, by whatever means necessary. obfuscate ownership, avoid identification, distribute via torrents, avoid the eye of sauron, etc etc. just like... opsec shit, you know

I think this puts what i was trying to get at recently much more succinctly. It’s possible to support and use emulation while still thinking these folks in particular were not smart about how they went about things (from everything I’ve heard) and how we’re all going to pay the price on some level (though them the most in a literal sense)
