hey, do you know of any games (rpgs, farming sims, anything with a story) that feature an economy you interact with but that does not utilize fungible currency? e.g. stardew valley but no money. subsistence valley.

I’ve really enjoyed Mutazione! It’s much more story focused, but it’s so lovely and takes place in a small island community with a non-monetary economy.
oh i've been meaning to play that! thank you for the suggestion, i will definitely check it out!
You could make an argument that Minecraft is such a game, although it probably doesn’t fit into the “anything with a story” requirement.
i've never played minecraft, is there no currency? i know there's crafting (😆), is there trading?
There’s trading with villagers, but it’s not especially nuanced (“give me X to get Y”).
In theory there’s also emeralds as a currency, which are a trading item with no value outside of trade (like, there’s gold but it’s just a crafting material like any other), so I suppose that could count as currency, but it’s not necessary to trade.
I’m trying to think of other games that fit “barter without currency” better, but Minecraft was the first to pop into my brain.
