I feel like you could use/combine these symbols to make a logo for an ambient electronic band
huh, do american care labels not have the washing temperature written as a number but as a number of dots? in europe, the washing temperature is given in °C, for example 30, 40, 60, or 90. the ironing and drying instructions do use 1, 2, or 3 dots.
American washing machines don't have that fine of temperature control. The one I have has settings for temperature, but those settings are "cold" to "hot" and not degrees. As such, they don't list degrees on the care instructions because it wouldn't be of use for most people. Do European washing machines actually allow you to set temperatures, or list what the temperature for each water-heat setting is supposed to be? Here it's basically just a toggle that determines how much of the water in the machine is going to be drawn from the hot-water tap and how much is going to be drawn from the cold-water tap.
From what I have seen, either you select from a list of pre-specified programs which will have the temperature written/displayed somewhere on the machine, or you have an interface to directly change the temperature yourself.
EDIT: Some examples: My parents' old laundry machine had a button for cycling between +30°C, +40°C, +60°C, and +95°C. The older machines where I live atm have a 7-segment display that allows you to select from 9 different programs, with the program to number assignments written on a label on the machine door (off the top of my head I only remember 4 was +60°C normal wash and 6 was +40°C normal wash). The newer machines where I live have a small screen and a rotating dial to select / fine tune a specific program, including temperature in 10°C increments from 30°C to 80°C.
yep, old ones i remember had a dial to select the program and then would have the temperature and duration for each printed somewhere on the front. newer ones allow you to select the temperature directly. also, they aren't hooked up to the hot water, they take in cold water and heat it themselves.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing, both of you. It's neat to see the little differences that pop up across continents.
thirded. it seems to be based on meow wolf's shrine of clean, but this format seems original
yeah it's a print i bought when visiting meow wolf convergence station. idk if it's available anywhere else.
