There's a possibility that the practice of changing clocks twice a year in the United States in the foreseeable future will cease. The Sunshine Protection Act passed in the Senate this year, the first time it's gotten as far as being brought to the floor, though it still awaits the House and President.
If passed, it would enact permanent Daylight Savings Time. That is to say, we wouldn't change the clocks anymore but we'd be stuck with DST in the "on" position rather than the "off" position.
Sometime a decade down the road, my kids are going to ask me "hey, how come the sun is overhead at 11am? That's kinda funny, isn't the middle of the day supposed to be noon?"
And when I explain Daylight Savings Time to them, they are not going to fucking BELIEVE a word I say.
They are going to literally think I'm pulling a Calvin's Dad on them. I am honestly, legitimately concerned that I won't be able to convince them that this true fact is a fact which is true.
