Finally progressed far enough in the game and saved up enough cash to max-out the performance of my Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec (1999).
First I replaced the stock 2.6L I6 engine with a 3.8L V6. Then I installed the best available induction kit, ECU, fuel system, exhaust, turbo charger, suspension, brakes, tyres, clutch, gearbox and differential.
The end result: a 978bhp R34 Skyline that can do 0-100 in 2.2 seconds and has a top speed of 372 km/h. Extremely cool π
However there's one weird thing about this build: the engine I'm using isn't the highest-tier engine available for the car. In NFS Unbound engines and parts have four tiers: Sport, Pro, Super and Elite. There are five engines available for the R34 Skyline:
- 2.6L I6 (Sport Tier, Stock Horsepower: 276bhp, Potential Horsepower: 691bhp)
- 3.0L I6 (Sport Tier, Stock Horsepower: 425bhp, Potential Horsepower: 702bhp)
- 2.9L V6 (Sport Tier, Stock Horsepower: 505bhp, Potential Horsepower: 756bhp)
- 3.8L V6 (Pro Tier, Stock Horsepower: 304bhp, Potential Horsepower: 978bhp)
- 7.0L V8 (Super Tier, Stock Horsepower: 506bhp, Potential Horsepower: 619bhp)
Given this line-up of engines one would assume that the 7.0L V8 is the best as it has the highest tier. However if you look more closely at the numbers you can see that potential horsepower of the 7.0L V8 is two-thirds that of the 3.8L V6!
So, when you're upgrading your rides in NFS Unbound make sure that you pay close attention to the numbers!
