regarding the storage on the soulmate, I did some digging and found this PC-100 SDRAM SODIMM on ebay with what appears to be the same part number: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144376393069
lmao nice. Yeah I wish I'd managed to figure this out before I wrote the script, but tbh if I had, I wouldn't have bothered to look for the "psuedo-SRAM" behavior in the datasheet at all.

If they mostly want you to "type to search for what you want to listen to", the IR window could be there for a nonexistent IR keyboard accessory. It's the perfect orientation for that.
